Brief History and Background

The enthusiasm and initiatives of the local intellectuals intentionally created a golden path to establish Sriram Chandra Bhanj Degree College in the year 1994 in a tribal village of Mayurbhanj district named Ragdha having streams: Arts& Science. It is one of the leading colleges of the Tribal dominated district of Mayurbhanj in the state of Odisha. The college is conveniently located at a distance of 12 K.M. only from Baripada, the metropolis of Mayurbhanj. The College is situated near to NH-18 at Ragdha village and the is a convenient rail communication to the college i.e., 5 km from college named Krushnachandrapur Railway Station. The state borders of West Bengal and Jharkhand are only 35 km and 45 km respectively.

Our college being situated in the tribal sub-plan area in the district of Mayurbhanj (Odisha) is always taking the responsibility for overall empowerment of the tribal students through access of education, particularly higher education and enabling them to develop as intellectually alive, socially responsible citizens.

Our college is simply a temple of knowledge that purports to develop in its students modern temper, computerized work force, scientific outlook, respectful attitude with selfless behavior and freedom from superstitions which in long run will enable them to march step by step with the modern world.

Our college is recognized by Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha and is affiliated to Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjdeo University (Erstwhile North Orissa University), Sriram Chandra Vihar, Takatpur, Baripada. The College has a Governing body and runs as per the rules and regulations made by Govt. from time to time.

The College is and Non-Govt. Aided College (662 Category) which comes under Grant-in-Aid Category. The College has different Bodies/Cells to maintain all types of discipline in the campus. The applications under the RTI Act along with a postal order/demand draft for Rs. 10/- obtained in favour of The Principal, Sriram Chandra Bhanj Degree College, Ragdha. This application may be sent to Public Information Officer (PIO) or handed over in his /her office. All information about the college is open for the public and it can it obtained by citizens of India.
